DIY Drop Tower








1. Support part



1) Cut the woods to the size shown below. (Thickness: 12mm )




2) Fix the wood around the copper rod. (copper rod diameter: 22mm)
  


3) Pass the magnet through the copper rod. (Magnet diameter 40mm, 23mm hole)

2. Seat part

1) Cut the woods to the size shown below. (Thickness: 12mm )


2) Make a hole in the wood and tie the thread. Tie a magnet to the other side of the thread. This is used as a seat belt. (Magnet diameter: 12mm)



3) Fix the woods like this. And fix the magnet on the top and bottom of the chair. It is used as a brake system.


3. Lifter Part

1) Cut the woods to the size shown below. (Thickness: 12mm )

2) Fix the woods like this. Acryl pipe diameter is 22mm

3) Make a hole for string. (Diameter: 5mm)



4) Fix the motor and pulley.

Motor  : 6V 20rpm

Motor Braket

Adapter : 6V

Pulley
- This motor and pulley do not fit perfectly. So I fixed it with a glue gun. I recommend that you use another pulley.



7) Tie a magnet to the other side of the string. (I used a fishing line)

4. Assembly

1) Assembly the support part and the seat part.


2) Fix Acryl pipe with support part. 


3) Assembly the acryl pipe and the lifter part. Complete!

  1. Hi, I want to build this for my school project but a copper rod costs too much. Do you have any idea if a hollow copper rod would work as well?

  2. Sorry for the late reply. It will work but the brake performance will be reduced.
    Aluminum rods may be better than hollow copper rods. It is better to buy one as a sample and experiment with it.
